Summer is looming, and Starbucks just dropped some news about its 2025 summer menu that will make your anticipation just a bit stronger.
With summer just around the corner, Starbucks is giving fans a reason to get excited. A source from the coffee giant has shared an exclusive preview with Tasting Table, revealing what’s brewing for the upcoming sunny season. Hitting menus this May, customers can look forward to one brand-new drink and the return of three fan-favorites.
The new Iced Horchata Oatmilk Shaken Espresso will debut alongside the returning fan-favorite boba-inspired Summer-Berry Refreshers.
Coffee lovers and Refresher fans alike have something to cheer about. Starbucks is rolling out the brand-new Iced Horchata Oatmilk Shaken Espresso along with the much-loved Summer-Berry Refreshers lineup, which originally made waves in summer 2024.
Refresher fans will be happy to hear that Starbucks has confirmed the return of its Summer-Berry Refresher lineup this summer.
Back by popular demand, the Summer-Berry Refreshers feature a medley of berry flavors—think blueberry, blackberry, and raspberry—paired with limited-edition raspberry-flavored popping pearls for an extra fruity punch. You’ll be able to enjoy the classic Summer-Berry Refresher, mix things up with a creamy coconut base in the Summer Skies Drink, or go for a citrus twist with the Summer-Berry Lemonade Refresher. No matter your berry craving, Starbucks has you covered.
But, thanks to the new Iced Horchata Oatmilk Shaken Espresso, so are your cinnamon ones.
Craving something sweet and spiced? Starbucks is introducing a new twist on a beloved traditional beverage: the Iced Horchata Oatmilk Shaken Espresso. Inspired by the classic horchata from Mexican and Hispanic cultures—typically made with rice water, vanilla, cinnamon, and sugar—Starbucks’ version swaps in oat milk and shakes it up with espresso for a modern, creamy, cinnamon-forward iced drink. It’s the ideal cool-down option for hot days, especially when paired with the upcoming Strawberries & Cream Cake Pop.
It’s a dirty horchata summer
For those unfamiliar, horchata is a cherished, sweet beverage found in both restaurants and street vendors throughout Hispanic and Mexican communities. While Starbucks’ version may not stick to traditional ingredients, it reflects the growing trend of combining horchata with coffee—a combo affectionately known as a “dirty horchata.”
This fusion has been gaining popularity in recent years, thanks to local cafés such as Guisados and Café de Leche in Los Angeles, and Bird & Branch in New York City. In fact, in 2023, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf introduced their own lineup of horchata-inspired drinks, including a Horchata Latte, Horchata Ice Blended Drink, Horchata Cold Brew, and Horchata Cream Cold Brew.
Though Starbucks hasn’t yet shared the official recipe, the possibilities for customizing the Iced Horchata Oatmilk Shaken Espresso are nearly endless. You could swap the espresso for cold brew, add horchata-infused cold foam, or come up with your own signature twist. However you take it, this drink is shaping up to be a summer staple for horchata and coffee fans alike.
